Silvia Pianta

I am a PhD Fellow in Public Policy at Bocconi University and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment.

My research interests focus on environmental policy and politics, aiming to understand the social and political challenges of decarbonization. I combine insights from political, social and behavioral sciences to study environmental attitudes and behaviors, climate policy preferences, and public attention to climate change.

At the RFF-CMCC European Institute on Economics and the Environment, I work on the ENGAGE research project, where I contribute to the development of a framework to evaluate the feasibility of Integrated Assessment Models scenarios, incorporating institutional and socio-cultural feasibility dimensions. I also contribute to the ENGAGE stakeholder elicitation process, which aims at mapping different stakeholders’ perspectives in order to improve the assessment of the challenges and enablers of decarbonization policies and pathways.

I received my Ph.D. in Public Policy from Bocconi University in February 2021. From February to August 2018, I was Visiting Student Research Collaborator at the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs, working at the Behavioral Science for Policy Lab.
